How SafeFootprint.ca handles scan data
Last updated: June 8, 2026
What we collect
When you run a scan, we collect the identifier you submit in normalized and hashed form, the redacted identifier shown in your report, consent attestation details, provider result metadata, generated report content, and optional follow-up email.
How we use it
We use submitted data only to run the requested exposure scan, generate the report, prevent abuse, cache provider responses within configured limits, and respond to support or deletion requests.
Marketing measurement
If you accept marketing measurement, SafeFootprint.ca loads Meta Pixel on public marketing pages to measure ad performance, scan starts, and checkout interest. We do not intentionally send submitted identifiers, report links, broker evidence, or scan results to Meta. The pixel is not loaded on private scan or share-report pages.
What we do not store
We do not store raw leaked passwords, raw dark-web rows, or full sensitive broker records. Where a provider returns sensitive data, the app stores summaries, categories, counts, source labels, and removal guidance.
Retention
Quick-scan reports are time-limited and may be deleted after the configured retention period. Report access links stop working when the report expires.
Service providers and location
SafeFootprint.ca is Canadian-owned. Hosting region, database region, and external provider processing locations must be verified before public launch and reflected here. Some external APIs may process requests outside Canada under their own terms.
Your choices
You can decline marketing measurement in the site prompt. You can also clear site data in your browser to reset that choice. You can request access, correction, or deletion by emailing privacy@safefootprint.ca. Include the report link or redacted identifier so we can locate the record without asking for unnecessary personal information.
Consent
Only scan identifiers you own, control, or are authorized to review. The consent checkbox is required before any scan starts.
